The former "Relentless" Ron Mathis gained his first bit of notoriety in the HWA by teaming up with with his mentor "Bad Attitude" Brian Beech and forming the duo known as Hardcore Religion... Hardcore Religion chased the HWA Tag Team Titles for several months in 2009, before frustration set in and "The Relentless One" stabbed Beech in the back... After the split Mathis was embroiled in a feud with Brian Beech for the latter part of 2009, a feud he shockingly came out on top of... Forms The International Riot Squad with Kaden Assad... "Befriended" the bizarre Gilbert in early 2010... Won his first HWA championship in May 2010 when he defeated Jesse Emerson to become the HWA American Luchacore Champion in controversial fashion...
