June 26th, 2009 HWA Uprising 2009 is now in the history books and it was another wild night at the Norwood Recreation Center... THE HYBRIDS vs. HARDCORE RELIGION - BEST 2 out of 3 FALLS MATCH! Things kicked off with a bang as The Hybrids defended their HWA Tag Team Titles in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls match against Hardcore Religion. Jason Lyte with some assistance from the ropes pinned Ron Mathis to take the first fall for The Hybrids. Hardcore Religion picked up the second fall when "The Madness" Chris Hall interfered assaulting Brian Beech much like he did back at HWA May Day but this time referee Joe Kopasz saw it and disqualified The Hybrids. Then in the third and deciding fall, Hardcore Religion hit The Hardcore Device on Donovan Cain to win the match... but unfortunately for Brian Beech and Ron Mathis, NOT the HWA Tag Team Titles. Referee Joe Kopasz ruled that since the second fall ended in a disqualification and since titles can only change via pinfall or submission, that Hardcore Religion won the match but not the HWA Tag Team Titles. JESSE EMERSON vs. JT STAHR Last month in Norwood it was a low blow, a few weeks back at The Sorg it was a handful of tights, last night in Norwood JT Stahr once again managed to pick up a less than ethical win on Jesse Emerson, this time due to the interference of his Head of Security "The Madness" Chris Hall. DRAKE YOUNGER vs. JON MOXLEY In a special added attraction, Drake Younger and Jon Moxley tore each other apart, battling all over the Norwood Rec Center. The two men spent more time outside the ring than in it. Referee Tyler Rafflewitz allowed both men a lot of leeway but when the two men fought into the lobby and then out the front door of the Rec Center he had no choice but to throw the match out. HWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION JAKE CRIST vs. ANDRE HEART Former friends became bitter rivals with the HWA Heavyweight Title at stake as Jake Crist and #1 Contender Andre Heart met in the first of two main events of the evening. Andre Heart came close to becoming HWA Heavyweight Champion on several occasions, but his overconfidence was his ultimate undoing and Jake Crist once again got the 1-2-3 on another challenger. But it was truly a case of Jake winning the battle, but Andre Heart winning the war. With Nevaeh, Chad Cruise and Matt Taylor banned from ringside. Andre had an ace up his sleeve... with the emergence of a new member of The Love Connection. At this point not much is known about the man, but Jake Crist got to know him quite well when he clubbed him from behind, then hoisted the HWA Heavyweight Champion over his head and dropped him to the mat. Then in the ultimate act of humiliation, Andre Heart with the assistance of his new hired muscle, forced HWA Heavyweight Champion Jake Crist to kiss his ring. And if that wasn't enough, Andre then left with the HWA Heavyweight Title belt. A belt he did NOT win. DAVE CRIST vs. RYAN CAMPBELL vs. CHRISJEN HAYME vs. V-RAD - 4 WAY ELIMINATION MATCH! A future shot at the HWA American Luchacore Championship hung in the balance in the special 4 Way Elimination Match. HWA newcomer Chrisjen Hayme was the first man eliminated by the favorite to win the match, Dave Crist. But minutes later Dave Crist would be eliminated by V-Rad, cutting the field of competition in half with V-Rad and rookie sensation Ryan Campbell remaining. The crowd was split in support for the underdog Ryan Campbell and the increasingly popular V-Rad. But Entourage in-fighting would come in to play once again when super agent Brock Guffman got involved in the match, V-Rad took offense to Guffman's interference and began yelling at him warning him to never interfere again. Ryan Campbell wisely took advantage of the situation, taking V-Rad down to the mat, before scaling the ropes and hitting a 450 Splash from the top and picking up his first win ever. After the match as Ryan Campbell celebrated with the fans at ringside, Brock Guffman entered the ring and started reading V-Rad the riot act. V-Rad had enough and grabbed Guffman by his hideous shirt and it looked like he was ready to strike the super agent. But before V-Rad could give Guffman some well deserved punishment, "The Madness" Chris Hall and JT Stahr came to the aid of their agent and began double teaming V-Rad. Ryan Campbell still at ringside, took off to the back and moments later returned with the cavalry in the form of Dave Crist and Jesse Emerson. The three ran off the remaining members of The Entourage and helped V-Rad up to his feet, allowing V-Rad to celebrate his new found freedom. "DEJA VU" RICHARD PHILLIPS vs. OSYRIS - #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH In what literally may have been the biggest match in HWA history, two super heavyweights collided when Deja Vu met Osyris. The match had some big time stipulations too as the winner would receive a future shot at the HWA Heavyweight Title. The turning point in the match was when the gargantuan Osyris missed a top rope moonsault and Deja Vu caught a dazed and confused Osyris with a vicious Stank Line to set up Osyris for the pinfall. After the match Andre Heart, with the HWA Heavyweight Title in his possession showed up with his new hired muscle stating that Richard would not be facing Jake Crist for the title, but instead would be facing him. Deja Vu wanted Andre right then and there but Andre did not oblige. HWA AMERICAN LUCHACORE CHAMPION AARON WILLIAMS vs. TIM DONST - SUBMISSION MATCH Prior to the main event at HWA Uprising, Aaron Williams announced that since Tim Donst had both of The Hybrids in his corner, that he was adding as second corner man to join Norwood native and up and coming MMA fighter Dominique Steele... that second man was none other than HWA Legend, "High IQ" Quinten Lee. The match proved to be a wild one. With Aaron Williams and even some ringside fans punishing Tim Donst during the first half of the match. But the fun and games would soon end as Aaron Williams got Donst back in the ring making him pay for all the horrible things he's done since joining the HWA. When The Hybrids interjected themselves in the ring, Quinten Lee and Dominique Steele sprang into action as Lee took Lyte out of the equation and Dominique took out Donovan. This left Aaron and Donst alone in the ring and Aaron would apply a cross face and seconds later Tim Donst was tapping out and his undefeated streak was no more. Dominique Steele and "High IQ" Quinten Lee would rejoin Aaron in the ring and the three celebrated to wrap up HWA Uprising! NEXT NORWOOD SHOW: HWA TROUBLE IN PARADISE - SATURDAY JULY 18th, 2009 |
